1934 Homebrew TX

Obtained from Carl Nord WA1KPD, Carl's words follow;

"It was built by W1KSK (SK) in 1995 and used in the March OT contest. He faithfully reproduced the three tube transmitter originally described in the November 1931 QST with “Modernizing” as described by George Grammer in the February 1934 QST.

The tube line up is a 47 crystal oscillator to a 10 (Taylor 825) buffer/doubler to a 203 final running “96.5 watts” according to the builders’ notes. There are nicely wound coils for 3.5 and 7.0 mc.

Note how the final coils sit on rods in the left hand rear of the rig and can be then slid for coupling. There is full documentation including a letter he wrote to a friend at AWA with his log about his success with getting it finished just in time for the 1995 OT contest “When I was able to draw an almost ½ inch arc At the plate terminal of the 203A socket, I knew I had it made.” The wood is very nicely finished and the rig is in excellent condition."
