1934 Era Homebrew Transmitter

Built by John Haught KA3BRK (W3GLH).Was recipient of Antique Wireless Association "Matlack" award for the 1934 era.

The design is based on article in the November 1971 CQ magazine. John also built a regen receiver to match. The TX uses a single 47 tube in the oscillator stage and a pair of 46s in the amplifier section.

Photos can be clicked on to load at a higher resolution.

Front view, you can see that John did an outstanding job with the construction. The TX is easily understood, the oscillator, it's circuitry and metering is on the left side of the unit. The amplifier is on the right.

Top view, the oscillator section on left and the amplifier on the right side. Note the neatly run buss wiring and clean component layout. Plug in coils allow for band switching.

Rear view, nice wooden base with binding posts for power supply connection. Uses 300 volts for the oscillator and 500 volts for amplifier stage.

Rear top view, two different size xtal sockets on the rear of the chassis for xtal control both old and FT-243 type holders. The two plug-in coils, currently on 40 meters, offer simple band switching.

Front overview, everything is nicely laid out and labeled. Even the meters match!
